(i) Information relating to availability of infrastructure and physical assets;

Infrastructure:

  1. Library – 1 Digital Library, facilities include issue of Books / Journal Volumes, Reference Service / Assistance, Inter-library Loan, On-line Databases, Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), CD-ROM, Multimedia Resources.
  1. Class rooms - 1 Seminar Hall, 1 Conference Hall, 1 fMRI conference room
  2. Laboratories – 15 laboratories
  3. Sports Facilities – Gymnasium in the Hostel, 2 Table Tennis room, Foot ball ground, 1 Basket Ball court, Shuttle and Volley Ball courts
  4. Two Hostels (situated at NBRC Campus).
  5. Residential accommodation to married students and staff of NBRC.
  6. New Building, which is 3 times larger than the present one, is under construction
  7. Internet facility – 24 hrs access of Internet facility to students
  8. DIC – DIC is responsible for the administration and maintenance of Internet and Local Area Network (LAN), Central facilities such as e-mail facility, Internet, printing facility, scanning, troubleshooting for software and hardware are also managed by DIC.

ELIGIBILITY FOR APPLICATION FOR THE M.Sc. COURSE

A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of Master of Science must possess at least one of the following qualifications from a recognised University, along with a consistently excellent academic record;

  1. A degree of Bachelor of Science or Bachelors degree in any subject related to the general area of Neurosciences/Brain Research. Candidates from diverse backgrounds that include, but not limited to, various disciplines of Biological, Physical, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical and Computer Sciences, and Psychology will be considered
  2. A degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent
  3. A degree of BE/B.Tech or equivalent.

ELIGIBILITY FOR APPLICATION FOR THE INTEGRATED Ph.D. COURSE

A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of Master of Science and Doctor of philosophy in Neuroscience must possess at least one of the following qualifications from a recognised University, along with consistently good academic record.

  1. Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science such as Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology or equivalent.
  2. Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering / Technology / Medicine or equivalent.
  3. Candidates appearing for the final year of qualifying examination are eligible to apply.

ELIGIBILITY FOR APPLICATION FOR THE Ph.D. COURSE

A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of Doctor of Philosophy must possess at least one of the following qualifications, from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission

  1. Master’s degree in any branch of Science such as Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology or equivalent. OR
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine or equivalent. OR
  3. Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine or equivalent.

Candidates appearing for the final year of qualifying examination are eligible to apply.
Candidates who have qualified for JRF in CSIR / UGC / ICMR / ICCSR / DBT-JRF or any other equivalent national examination carrying fellowship are encouraged to apply.

NBRC is providing reservation in admissions for SC / ST and PH candidates as per UGC / Government of India Policy.

Charges for obtaining the application by post / courier for Integrated Ph.D / Ph.D admission: Rs.50/-
It can also be downloaded free of cost from NBRC website.

Application fee varies year to year.
Last year (2009) details were as follows:

Application fee for submitting Off-line application Int.Ph.D / Ph.D admission – Rs.850/-
Application fee for submitting On-line application Int.Ph.D / Ph.D admission – Rs.750/-
Application fee for SC/ST/PH – Rs.200/-

Performance Award:

Students who obtain I and II Ranks respectively in their course work conducted for Integrated Ph.D and Ph.D will be awarded Rs.5,000/- for I Rank and Rs.3,000/- for II Rank.

(vi) Information regarding academic curricula in respect of in respect of the courses offered, whether degree or diploma, in such
institution;

Courses offered at NBRC:

Integrated Ph.D (Neuroscience)
Full time course and there is no distance education mode

Fellowship – Rs.3,000/- for the first two years, and will get enhanced as per rules for Junior Research Fellowship and Senior Research
Fellowship.

The duration of the fellowship is for 6 years only.

After completion of the course dual degree (M.Sc and Ph.D) will be given to the candidates

Ph.D (Neuroscience)
Full time course and there is no distance education mode

Fellowship – Rs.12,000/- for Junior Research Fellows and will get enhanced as per rules for Senior Research Fellowship.

The duration of the fellowship is for 5 years only.

For further details student may see the regulations of the Ph.D Programme, available on internal website of NBRC
and in Library.

After completion of the course Ph.D degree will be given to the candidates.
