Foundation Day, celebrated on 16th of December marks the anniversary of the dedication of NBRC to our nation by the then President of India, His Excellency, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Students from different schools in Haryana are invited to tour the laboratories and are told about various research projects related to the functioning of the brain in health and disease. Posters made by NBRC students are displayed to explain the ongoing research activities at the centre and encourage school students to think of neuroscience research as a future career option. This is followed by a quiz competition and awards are given to the winning teams and all the participants. An eminent neuroscientist is usually invited to deliver a lecture in the evening.
